THE ROLE OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT IN FOSTERING A CULTURE OF CONTINUOUS LEARNING

Human Resource Development (HRD) plays important role in shaping a culture of continuous learning within organizations, essential for long-term competitiveness and employee growth. This paper examines the various HRD strategies that promote continuous learning, including training programs, professional development initiatives, and knowledge-sharing mechanisms. By integrating theoretical frameworks such as adult learning theory and organizational learning models, the study highpoints how effective HRD practices encourage lifelong learning among employees. Data was gathered through interviews with HR Managers, employee surveys, and document analysis, the mean and standard deviation was used to analyze data also correlation analysis was used to see the relationship between HRD and the variables used which shows strong relationship between the HRD and the variables, showing that organizations with a robust HRD infrastructure tend to experience higher levels of innovation and adaptability. The paper emphasizes the need for organizations to align HRD strategies with their broader strategic objectives, ensuring that continuous learning becomes an integral part of their corporate culture. This research contributes to the understanding of how HRD can be optimized to foster a sustainable learning environment, offering practical recommendations for enhancing employee engagement and organizational performance.

TEACHERS' PERCEPTION OF AND DISPOSITION TO CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IN OSUN STATE, NIGERIA

Continuous Professional Development Programme

The study which explored teachers' perception of and disposition to continuous professional development programme in Osun State, Nigeria employed explanatory sequential mixed-methods design. All teachers serving in public secondary schools in Osun West Senatorial District during 2023/2024 academic session constituted the target population of the study. Purposive sampling technique was employed to select three-hundred respondents for questionnaire and five for interview. Descriptive statistical tools and content analysis were used for data analyses. The empirical results indicated that teachers positively view the Continuous Professional Development Programme, believing it aids their professional development, increases knowledge of teaching-learning, raises awareness of student cognitive, social, and emotional learning differences, and connects students' experiences with English language content. The empirical results shows that teachers in Osun State, Nigeria, are enthusiastic about the Continuous Professional Development Programme, which utilizes technology to enhance their teaching skills, foster cooperative learning, integrate various teaching approaches, and create relevant teaching aids. The study revealed that teachers have positive perception of and disposition to continuing professional development programme. The study recommended that teacher professional development should be made available to all teachers; government should also ensure that teachers are financially motivated whenever they are booked for continuing education among others.

A REVIEW OF THE PROS AND CONS OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY IN EVERYDAY LIFE

The study explores Information and Communication Technology on everyday life; by examining both the pros and cons. The introduction and meaning of ICT were clarified, followed by an overview of its evolution and effects on individuals, communities, and societies. The research paper delves into the pros of ICT in everyday life which includes but not limited to paperless environment, social relationship and daily routine management. Conversely, the cons of ICT were also scrutinized with encompassing concerns about reduced face-to-face interaction, security/loss of privacy. Through a critical review of the interplay between ICT and everyday life; this study aims to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing discourse about the role of technology in shaping our contemporary world. It informs the strategies for harnessing the potentials of ICT in enhancing human experience. The findings of this study have significant implications for policymakers, practitioners and individuals seeking to optimize the benefits of ICT while mitigating its adverse consequences. Ultimately, this study endeavors to promote a deeper understanding of ICT's impact and foster informed decision-making in an increasingly technology-driven world.
